Yggdrasil and their partner in crime, UK-based Reflex Gaming, take us one thousand years into the future with their upcoming release, 3021 AD The Bounty Hunter Gigablox. Unfortunately, it’s not all fun and games in the future, and players need to get ready for a bleak world where most humanity lives underground thanks to a toxic atmosphere from more than one nuclear war.
SK-1000 is a legendary bounty hunter. The surface of Earth is run by criminals and mutants, and in online slot, the Bounty Hunter’s job is to bring them to justice.
The 3021 AD The Bounty Hunter Gigablox background is the grim surface of the planet, which is a windswept mono-colour landscape of destroyed buildings and rock. The Bounty Hunter stands to the left of the game grid. The soundtrack is a dramatic movie-style piece that always sounds like something very exciting is happening.
The low-pay symbols are the four card suits. The high pay symbols are a futuristic-looking blue-haired woman, a purple man - who looks a lot like Thanos, a man who has a red skull for his face, and a cyborg.

The animations for 3021 AD The Bounty Hunter Gigablox are pretty cool, with SK-1000 shooting the game grid at random for Wilds and Multipliers. The Multipliers are courtesy of a small projector robot that rolls onto the right of the screen during Bounty Hunter Free Spins. All in all, it feels like a lot of effort was put into slot appearance and ambiance.
When players land a minimum of five scatter symbols in video slot, they win Bounty Hunter Free Spins with up to 25x multiplier. The number of free spins matches the number of scatters on the board, and the multiplier is awarded randomly by the Bounty Hunter with each win.
The 3021 AD The Bounty Hunter Gigablox mechanic is always in play. Randomly large symbols can land, increasing the chance for a win. The symbols can be blocks of 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, or 5x5, changing the number of reels in play with each spin.
Random Wilds occur with the 3021 AD The Bounty Hunter Gigablox Wild Reel Bonus. If the Bounty Hunter shoots the reels during a spin, it will turn some of the symbols into wilds and change the payout.
3021 AD The Bounty Hunter Gigablox offers some players the backstory and effects they’ve been looking for. It has characters, a plot, and clearly, a lot of energy was put into the look and feel of the game. There are some flaws, though.
3021 AD The Bounty Hunter Gigablox relies heavily on the Gigablox mechanic to keep the gameplay exciting. This does work to a degree, but the rest of the gameplay is a little tame. Having The Bounty Hunter shoot the game grid for the Wilds and the Multipliers is a fun addition, but it doesn’t make up for the fact that the bonus round is the same as the base game, just with multipliers.
It would have been great to perhaps take slot underground or to another location for the bonus round and to change the gameplay a bit more. With all the effort put into some aspects, this feels like a missed opportunity.

3021 AD The Bounty Hunter is absolutely worth trying, especially for players who love the dystopian future genre. The gameplay isn’t terrible, and the Gigablox mechanic comes through, as usual, to keep things interesting. The volatility is low-medium, and the wins aren’t huge, but it’s a decent game with some fun features.
