Microgaming and All41 Studios offer players a pirate theme and a fixed jackpot with Book of Captain Silver. All41 is a smaller studio based in Estonia, but that hasn't stopped it from being pretty prolific since its first game was released at the end of 2019.
Book of Captain Silver is the third "Book of" release for the studio, and the fixed jackpots, with substantial wins, add a nice change to the template.
Book of Captain Silver is set inside the pirate ship, near the boat's bottom if the moss on the walls is any indication. The scene is awash with skull candle holders, barrels that hopefully hold some rum, and a Jolly Roger embossed treasure chest overflowing with gold and sparkly jewels.
The Book of Captain Silver bonus game changes the scene slightly to nighttime, but there are no other differences or animations. The music is a pretty standard pirate-type jaunty tune that unfortunately becomes a bit repetitive as the game goes on.

The Book of Captain Silver low pay symbols are unsurprisingly the royals ten through Ace. The high pay symbols consist of a compass, a pirate ship, a pistol, and Captain Silver in all his smiley glory. An impressive-looking book bound in leather with a gold clasp and red jewel embedded in the cover plays the role of both wild and scatter in slot.
The titular Book of Captain Silver can replace any symbol when acting as a wild to complete paylines for wins. When the Book behaves as a scatter, three on the board will pay out 2x the stake, four pay out 20x the stake, and five scatters will award lucky players 200x the stake. Anytime more than three scatters land, players win ten free spins and enter the bonus round.
At the beginning of the free spin game, the slot will flip through random pages and select one of the low or high pay symbols. Once each spin is complete, if the chosen symbol can form a win, it expands to fill the entire reel. Expanded symbols pay all lines from any position, dramatically improving chances of a win.
All wild symbols that land are collected in the treasure chest at the base of the game, which can award players a chance at the jackpot wheel. The captain's wheel appears, covered in jewels, and spins. Whatever colour it lands on indicates the winning jackpot level.
The Book of Captain Silver jackpots are mini, minor, major, and mega and award 15x, 50x, 500x, and 10,000x the stake, respectively. With the ability to trigger respins by landing more scatters in the free spin round, players could spend a lot of time in this part of the game, hopefully increasing their chance at the jackpots.
While there might not be anything life-changing happening with Book of Captain Silver, it's a good game, with a decent math model, fun game mechanics, and the chance to win some big prizes.

The only critique is that it would have been nice to have more dynamic action during the game, with some animations or a more remarkable change of scenery for the bonus game. Hopefully, All41 will continue to improve over time and not rest on their laurels. Nevertheless, Book of Captain Silver is worth a look for fans of the "Book of" style of games and pirate enthusiasts.
