When a slot is successful, you know one thing for sure: that there will be a sequel. Gemix 2 was perhaps the very first cluster pays slot from Play’n GO and together with Reactoonz is still their most popular slot with the cluster pays mechanism.
It is therefore not surprising that we have a sequel to Gemix. We are especially surprised that it took so long.
The original Gemix was released in 2014 and it took 7 years before Gemix 2 was released, in May 2021. The slot can first be played exclusively at Unibet, and will be released worldwide over time.
Gemix 2: What is the Game All About?
The first thing we notice is how similar Gemix 2 is to the original. The characters, the play mechanism with clusters and falling symbols, the Crystal Charge features, the worlds you have to unlock, it all hardly differs from the Gemix you are so familiar with.
Play’n GO is clearly playing it safe with Gemix 2. We think that has a lot to do with the failure of Reactoonz 2. This game turned the original completely upside down and flopped mercilessly. It's why AC-DC has been so popular for years: sometimes fans just want more of the same.
The playing field consists of 7x7 symbols and winning combinations are created with clusters of 5 or more of the same symbols. The bigger the cluster, the higher the payout. The stars yield the most: a cluster of 15 or more stars is good for a prize of 200x the bet.

Winning combinations in Gemix 2 disappear and make way for new ones, causing chain reactions and filling the Crystal Charge meter. More on that later.
You can bet from 0.10 CAD up to a maximum of 100 CAD in Gemix 2. The theoretical payout percentage is 96.26% as standard. Don't be fooled by the cute look of this game: the variance is undeniably very high. The reward for this increased risk profile is a maximum win of 7,500x the total bet.
Mystery Wild Features in Gemix 2
By unlocking certain patterns, you unlock new worlds. There are four, and each world has its own mystery wild feature. You can win sticky wilds, extra wilds, and mega wilds.
Every so often, when transitioning to a new world, a kind of “the Dirty Man” in a raincoat appears. Choose a pocket of the jacket and you might win World Bonus: an amount of money accumulates over time during the game.
The Crystal Charge in Gemix 2
The Crystal Charge is what Gemix 2 is all about. You must fill the meter at the top right of the playing field with at least 25 winning symbols, which gives you one of the following boosters:
- Nova Blast: An explosion removes some symbols and changes the open positions into the same symbols
- Crystal Warp: one symbol is picked and appears in a number of positions
- Light Beam: A beam of light in the shape of a cross leaves clusters of the same symbols
- Chain Lightning: this is the most powerful booster: a diagonal line is drawn across the screen, in which the same symbols are placed.
It only gets really interesting when you fill the meter with 50 or more winning symbols.

Now you win Super Charged Crystal Charge:
- An x2 multiplier on all prizes
- All four boosters are activated one after the other
- You can win the feature again, increasing the multiplier by +2
- The maximum multiplier is x20.
To really hit the spot with this slot, you will have to win the Super Charged Crystal Charge a few times in a spin.
Is Gemix 2 Really Worth It?
We are big fans of cluster pays slots, but somehow never really liked Gemix. It's all just a bit too cutesy for our taste and it doesn't help that we have never won a prize of size. Mixed 2 is mainly more of the same. If you are a Gemix fan, you will absolutely love Gemix 2.
We'll skip for a while.
