Cauldron is an online video slot from Yggdrasil.

Video Cauldron™ – Yggdrasil Gaming

The gameplay in Cauldron revolves around the Expanding Ways. Every time you win some, the winning symbols remain on your screen and new symbols fall down. With an extra row on top of the rows, you already had. This way you play with a minimum of 4,096 and a maximum of 262,144 ways to win.

The maximum payout on this high variance slot machine is a whopping 21,120 times your stake.

Cauldron slot: How Does It Work?

You start with a playing field of six reels and four rows. That gives you a total of 4,096 ways to win. And that will cost you 10 credits per spin. A credit is worth a minimum of 0.01 CAD and a maximum of 10.00 CAD. That means spins of a minimum of 0.10 CAD and a maximum of 100.00 CAD each.

Cauldron has Tumbling Ways. That works exactly the other way around as the 'avalanches' on Gonzo's Quest. The winning symbols remain on your screen. All other symbols explode, disappear from your screen, and are replaced by new symbols.

After each successful 'tumble' you get a row of symbols. This mechanism is called Expanding Ways. The maximum number of rows is eight. That means no less than 262,144 ways to win. Just as much as on Ecuador Gold and Cygnus, for example. And after a 'tumble' that yields nothing, you fall back to 4,096 ways to win.

Symbols as well as Payouts

The protagonists of this Cauldron slot machine are five little creatures. Yggdrasil has not put a lot of effort into coming up with a nice story. We have no idea whether these Cauldron creatures are benefactors or a source of misery.

Cauldron wildThat doesn't matter much either, because combinations of at least three of these creatures earn you money. Six-of-a-kinds are the most profitable. A pink-purple Cauldron with two horns and a nose ring is the most valuable. You take 35 credits per six-of-a-kind. That's not much, but with 4,096 to a maximum of 262,144 ways to win it can go fast. And then you can also score several tumbles in one spin.

Four other creatures give you a maximum of 15 credits. The six low-win symbols are boulders with petroglyphs on them.

The Wilds count as Wild for all other symbols, of course, except for the bonus symbol. They also increase the multiplier by +1. The maximum multiplier is 7 times. In that case, the purple monster yields 245 credits instead of 35 credits.

Are Bonuses Juicy in Cauldron?

The bonus game consists of free spins. Or rather: 'free falls'. Four bonus symbols give you 8 free spins, five bonus symbols 10 free spins and six bonus symbols are good for 12 free spins. For every two bonus symbols that you take during the free spins, you get 2 extra free spins.

The difference with the basic game is that the Expanding Ways you take will remain during the remaining free spins. Just like on slots such as Tahiti Gold, Ecuador Gold, and Voodoo Gold. An extra is that the multipliers also remain after a losing tumble.

With a bit of luck, you can play your spins with a multiplier of 7 times and 262,144 ways to win.

Is Cauldron a Good Slot to Play?

The advance of 'grid slots' can no longer be stopped. After the success that Play’n GO achieved with Reactoonz and Push Gaming with Jammin' Jars, every game provider launched one or more knock-offs.

Also Yggdrasil. First Golden Glyph and now Cauldron. The statistics are impressive. You play with a payout percentage just above 96 percent and can take more than 21 thousand times your stake.

But a real winner? That's not Cauldron. The gameplay is just a bit too basic and the theme too limited for that.
