The name Scarab Kingdom just screams the Egyptian theme. We know it’s an overplayed design, but Scarab Kingdom really stands out from the rest. You are immediately transported to what looks like a sacred city in an imaginary Egyptian kingdom. You are slightly suspended above a water canal or waterway with fresh greenery to either side, and a Sphinx nestled comfortably on the right.
It’s a bit difficult to see what lies beyond the grid, but we suspect it’s the entrance to a kingdom full of riches. The grid has a pretty basic design with some Egyptian scarab bettles decorating the top. You can see a bonus counter to the left of the grid, which hints at some pretty hefty wins.
Microgaming has been on a trend where they incorporate variable RTPs (return to player) in their newer games. For Scarab Kingdom, the RTP can go from undesirable to average. It starts at a very low 92.15% and goes to 94.11%, then to 96.13%. Your hit frequency is acceptable at a little under 31%, and the max win isn’t great with the relatively low RTPs at only 5,000x your initial bet.

The 5×4 grid in Scarab Kingdom has 30 paylines, and you have a choice of laying down bets within the range of 0.20 to 25. Another strike against the game would be the high volatility, which we honestly expected to be lower given the rest of the details.
Scarab Kingdom offers some pretty interesting features, but you will have to see how helpful they are for yourself. The scarab beetle symbols we mentioned above have three parts you need to fill in order to reap the rewards. You add to the symbols whenever you manage to land a scarab icon.
When you complete a scarab beetle, you get the wild scrolls feature that will transform the reel in question into one full of wilds. They will gradually drop off the grid as you keep spinning.
Take your time collecting as many scarabs as you can in Scarab Kingdom because once you get 100, you will trigger another feature called Cleo’s Bonus, which we believe is named after Cleopatra. The game will display 12 coins facedown when Cleo’s bonus is triggered. It’s a little like the game Memory, which requires you to match symbols to get the bonuses listed on the left-hand side of the grid.

Lastly, there is a scatter symbol that appears on reels 2, 3 and 4. You need three to trigger the free spins, which will give you a head start with a 1x multiplier and a wild scroll ready to go on the middle reel.
The overall design is good for a theme that is overdone, but it definitely stands out from the rest of the competition. The RTP is variable, which can be a good or bad thing. Choosing the right one for you will depend on your strategy, but it doesn’t deny the fact that the RTPs are quite low.
The wins aren’t staggering, and the high volatility is definitely a strike against Scarab Kingdom, but you get an overall hit rate of 1/3, which Is acceptable for most games.
